Riding in Switzerland

Swiss riders have the Alps on their doorstep, and they make good use of them. Summer weekends mean pass-bagging, with famous loops linking several cols in a single day. The Tour de Suisse brings the pros through every June, and the lakes of Geneva, Zurich and Lucerne offer flatter rides when the legs need a rest.

Precision and quality are part of the Swiss way. Your kit should keep up.

Roads worth the trip

Grimsel, Furka and Susten. A legendary three-pass loop in central Switzerland, with big climbs, glaciers and the famous hairpins of the Furka. A full day in the saddle and one of the best rides in Europe.

Gotthard Pass, Tremola. The old cobbled road on the southern side, a ribbon of hairpins that's one of the most photographed climbs in the Alps.

Lake Geneva. Rolling vineyard roads through Lavaux above the lake, for days when the mountains can wait.

What to wear, season by season

The high passes typically open from June to October. Even in summer, carry a windbreaker for the descents, and consider a long sleeve jersey for early starts. In the valleys, a short sleeve kit is ideal from late spring.

Every Nordvelo design comes in men's and women's fits. Shop men's kit or women's kit.
