Riding in Hungary

Hungary hosted the start of the Giro d'Italia in 2022, with stages through Budapest and around Lake Balaton, and the Tour de Hongrie has grown into a respected stage race. Weekend riders head for the Balaton circuit, the Buda Hills and the Mátra mountains.

As the scene grows, so does the appetite for kit that stands out.

Roads worth the trip

Lake Balaton circuit. Around 200 kilometres around Central Europe's largest lake, with vineyards on the northern shore and plenty of places to stop.

Kékestető, Mátra. The road to Hungary's highest point, just over 1,000 metres, used as a summit finish in the Tour de Hongrie.

Buda Hills. Climbs right on the edge of Budapest, the local training ground for city riders.

What to wear, season by season

Hungarian summers are hot, so a short sleeve kit is the summer uniform. Winters are cold, which means a long sleeve kit and bib tights, with a windbreaker for spring and autumn.

Every Nordvelo design comes in men's and women's fits. Shop men's kit or women's kit.
